Senior Hardware Engineer

Job Location: Not important—any location in the United States.  We would like to build the team based on the geography of the selected candidate.

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall software development with emphasis on embedded and firmware development for Interface Masters expanding line of security-centric network appliances and switches.  In this role you will have the unique opportunity to build a software development team anywhere in the United States.  This role will evolve into a director role as the team expands and develops.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture, implementation and deployment of embedded and web-based applications.
  • Collaboration implementing an organizational structure focused on meeting schedules and delighting customers.
  • Work with customers, partners, product management and company leadership to execute customer-centric firmware and embedded development.
  • Team player with a positive attitude who is dedicated to strengthening and training, versus reprimanding and penalizing weak performers.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of manager-level management experience.
  • “Hands-on” Engineering experience with emphasis on firmware and embedded development.
  • Development tools including Linux scripting and cross-build GNU tools.
  • Debugging tools, GDB, C-scope, GNU development tools.
  • Extensive experience with C programming language along with working experience in assembler languages.
  • Excellent service skills required (timeliness of delivery and quality).
  • Ability to learn hardware tools such as scopes, JTAG debuggers, logic-analyzers, meters.
  • Ability to work with key resources in other geographies.
  • An easy-going yet focused personality would be an excellent fit with our hardware engineering team.

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in any technology.

        The Quality Assurance Engineer supports Interface Masters’ quality goals, processes, and the Quality Management System (QMS). In this role, you will:

        • Ensuring products meet Interface Masters’, customer and industry established quality, reliability, and compliance standards.
        • Create and ensure the assembly and testing of new products and RMA’s cover requirements, and are repeatable. Create and ensure Manufacturing Process Instructions, checklists for Assembly, Test and Quality Process Instructions are current.
        • Interface with Customers on issues and complaints, especially those that affect product quality.
        • Perform root cause analysis on production issues, implement appropriate containment, and drive corrective action.
        • Manage internal audits in support of ISO requirements and quality goals, including company audits to ensure process documents and procedures are being followed.
        • Provide engineering support such as repair analysis, electrical/mechanical component issue resolution, lean process development, and more.
        • Communicate, support, and resolve QA issues with regards to non-conforming material.
        • Evaluate production/inspection equipment, processes, and procedures to ensure accuracy.
        • Submit periodic reports to supervisor on assigned topics
        • Communicate product quality concerns to management, including trend information for management’s review

        Education

        • Bachelor’s degree

        • 3+ years of experience in engineering, quality, or manufacturing
        • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
        • Ability to positively interact with others, especially in this critical customer-facing role
        • Familiarity with manufacturing and design environments
